haiku I read at mom’s funeral

One of the things I will always remember is how much mom loved my haiku and would ask for a new one every day. I had chosen about 10 to read at her funeral but then felt it might be too many so these are the ones I read:

❤️

summers at the coast
seagulls and mom
searching for shells

❤️

bucket of words —
mom laughs when I spill
a new haiku

❤️

new mystery book!
afternoon shadows
creep across the page

❤️

still life —
cat
ready to pounce

❤️

hot summer days
trees blooming
with butterflies

❤️

midnight sky
all the shining stars
celebrate mom
❤️

❤️

stark white walls

(These two haiku were actually written 07/26/23 and 07/27/23)

v1
07/26/23

stark white walls —
through open windows
the colors of sunset
warm the room

v2
07/27/23

stark white walls —
through open windows
the colors of sunset
paint the room
