Easter Morning!
wake little sis look!
At the foot of our beds
Easter baskets appeared!
.
ribbons and bows
woven wicker and hemp
 spilling over with
green
cellophane grass
milk chocolate bunnies
in bright colored foil
soft marshmallow eggs
yellow chicks too
.
and clear at the bottom
jelly beans galore
red green orange yellow and blue!

write journals sip tea

chop veggies make soup
these are the pleasures of life
haiku zazen days

trolls fall off the bridge
water dark and murky cold
no more trolls to spit
·
sister writes a note
trolls no longer rule her life
write poems sip tea
·
chop veggies make soup
these are the pleasures of life

hiding under dirty socks

sisters talk of trolls
from their parents, books and school
who insist on certain rules
.
“If you want to write haiku”
they say
all the syllables must be
in lines of five seven five
.
And there are tanka rules too!
five seven five seven seven
is what you must do
.
yet where is the cadence
the song in the words
if we can’t break any rules?
